Gender Based Violence (GBV) Solve Project was officially launched by Social Welfare and Women & Child Minister Pi Lalrinpuii on 6th November, 2025 at her office chamber in MINECO, Aizawl. The project is a joint initiative of Aparajita and J-PAL South Asia, and will be implemented in Mizoram by Mission Foundation Movement (MFM).
The Minister, highlighting the alarming rise in violence against women in Mizoram, stated that during 2022–2023, a total of 3,094 cases were reported through the Women Helpline, which has now risen sharply to 12,750 cases as of February 2025. She emphasised that addressing GBV is of utmost importance, as empowering women strengthens families and, in turn, uplifts entire communities.
She further noted that the GBV Solve Project will not only tackle issues surrounding gender-based violence but will also include extensive awareness and education programmes for both boys and girls, along with skill training initiatives to help women gain economic independence.
Mrs. Zoramthangi Chhangte, Director of the Women and Child Development Department, expressed her gratitude for the collaboration, stating that her department was pleased to work hand in hand with the Mission Foundation Movement to combat gender-based violence and uplift the status of women.
Out of 470 project proposals received across India, after thorough screening and assessment, six organisations were selected to implement the GBV Solve Project — one of which is Mission Foundation Movement (MFM). In Mizoram, MFM will carry out the project in collaboration with the Women and Child Development Department, focusing on awareness, community engagement, and support services for survivors of gender-based violence in Aizawl District.
