Gender Based Violence Awareness Programme held at AMC Ward IV

An Awareness Programme on Gender Based Violence was successfully organized today, 3rd September 2026 at 11:00 AM at Ramthar Veng YMA Hall Thar, under the initiative of Aizawl Municipal Corporation (AMC), Ward-IV Corporator Pi Vanlalhriati and jointly facilitated by Mission Foundation Movement (MFM) and the Women & Child Development Department.
The programme was attended by members of MHIP, Zonu and residents of Ward-IV. Pi R. L. Lalengmawii, District Mission Coordinator was the Resource Person for the event.
The programme was chaired by AMC Ward-IV Corporator Pi Vanlalhriati. The keynote address on the ongoing project on Gender Based Violence was delivered by Pu Lalramchhuanzela, Executive Director, Mission Foundation Movement.
Pi R. L. Lalengmawii elaborated on the different forms of violence against women and highlighted the support systems available for victims. She informed that Women Helpline No. 181 is available 24x7 for anyone in distress. She also highlighted other government support initiatives such as Shakti Sadan – a shelter home for women in distress to help them rebuild their lives, and One Stop Centre (OSC) – a one-stop facility providing integrated support including legal, medical, police and counselling services. She also provided awareness on legal safeguards available for women and urged the gathering that even if we are not perpetrators of violence, we should all stand as supporters for the victims.
This was followed by an interactive Q&A session with the participants. C. Roluahpuii, Project Coordinator, Mission Foundation Movement, shared about their project implementation, mentioning that they have been conducting awareness campaigns in various Schools and Churches, and also conducting Self-Defence classes in selected schools.
