Social Welfare Minister Inaugurates Hulhliap Skill Training Centre

Hulhliap Training Centre at Dawrpui Vengthar under MFM was inaugurated by Social Welfare Minister Pi Lalrinpuii.
The programme was chaired by Pi Lalzarmawii, IAS, Commissioner & Secretary, SW&WCD Department. Dr. Lalhriatzuali Ralte, IAS, Special Secretary (In-Charge), LESDE & Member Secretary, Hulhliap–SSC, presented a report on the establishment of Hulhliap. She stated that the Short Stay Centre was first launched at Synod Revival Camping Centre, Sihphir Neihbawi. In the first batch, 256 trainees were enrolled, of which 116 completed their training. In the second batch, 544 were enrolled and 248 successfully completed, while in the third batch, 212 trainees enrolled and 170 completed their training.
At present, the new batch consists of 80 trainees enrolled at Hulhliap. Of these, 34 are training as Assistant Electricians, 28 in Aluminium Fabrication, and 18 in Food Processing. Four trainees who graduated from Hulhliap will also be sponsored to undergo Biblical studies at the Discipleship Training Centre.
As chief guest, Pu Malsawmzuala Ralte, Chairman, Task Group on Aftercare, Skill, Training & Handholding, Hulhliap–SSC, delivered a speech highlighting that trainees will be able to find opportunities both within and outside the state after their training. He emphasised that the skills they acquire should enable them to earn a livelihood and also support their families.
Hon’ble Minister Pi Lalrinpuii, in her address, encouraged the trainees to remain determined. She stated that there is a high demand for electricians and fabricators, and with proper training they will secure employment. She also mentioned that food processing trainees will be able to work in processing and packaging industries to add value to Mizoram’s local products.
She further said that although the government has been making significant progress in the areas of supply and harm reduction, rehabilitation remains a huge challenge. She urged that Hulhliap graduates should not relapse but instead become role models for others. She stressed that the trainees must take this golden opportunity seriously, and assured that under the government’s Handholding Policy, graduates of Hulhliap will continue to receive support for their future endeavours.
